Casio recently released their two latest models for their Exilim Zoom line of digital cameras designed for first-time buyers who are on a budget. The Exilim Zoom EX-Z280 and EX-Z33 are currently priced at $180 and $120, respectively. Specifications are pretty pedestrian, already covering all the basic features casual photographers are looking for, and with a few surprises.

The 12.1-megapixel EX-Z280 has a multipurpose wide-angle 26mm lens with a 4X optical zoom, cased in a nice-looking, compact chassis. It offers CCD-shift image stabilization and face detection. The EX-Z33 is a 10.1-megapixel shooter with a 3X optical zoom lens.

Casio has added a number of new scene modes that include a makeup setting for better portraits and a handheld night scene that compensates for camera shake. The EX-Z280 captures video at high-resolution 1280 by 720 pixels, while the EX-Z33 shoots video in standard definition.

The latest camera models will be available in September. The EX-Z33 will be offered in black. The EX-Z280 will offer black, light pink, vivid pink, silver, and blue.
