Setting up the automatic page numbers in OpenOffice.org Writer may be difficult if you're used to using MS Word. There's actually an easy way to do it in OO Writer, the menu are just arranged differently:
1. If you need to have the page number in the header just click on Insert>Header>Default in order for the header to appear. You can also add the page number anywhere you want it to. You even can put it in the next of the document if you wish.
2. Click on Insert>Fields>Page Numbers to insert the page number. You can enter the number of pages from here if you need to.
