When the System Restore function was introdued back in Windows ME, it has helped save some major computer fiasco on a lot of occasions. This feature is still included in the new Windows 7 OS and today we will take a look at creating a new restore point.
Creating a Restore Point
It is always recommended to create a restore point before installing new application or software or even making any major modification to your computer. More often than not, when you install new software application you’re prompted with an option to create a restore point but if not you can also do one manually.
Right-click on My Computer and go to Properties.
Click on the System Protection link.
The System Properties dialog will pop up; click on Create.
Type in a description of the restore point so you will remember the point at which it was created.
The time it takes to create the restore point depends on the amount of data, computer speed, etc.
Now you're all done! If something goes wrong with your computer, you still have the satisfaction of knowing that you can still go back in time to the point before the changes were made.
